Click on the image about to see a sample menu from Eating House on Ponce de Leon Blvd. We finally made it out to this place last week, food was great. Don't miss the chicken and waffles or the pasta carbonara. Go soon, they won't be at this location forever, the pop up restaurant is sort of a fundraising effort so they can open a permanent location some time in the Fall.

Two favorite Peruvian spots in Miami. One's in West Dade, but they also have one on the beach, the other is on Biscayne.

I'm attempting to be a weekday pescatarian (a really lazy vegetarian), so hopefully tonight Egg & Dart will serve some delicious Greek style fish and spreads. Starting tonight, female patrons eat for 20 bucks and have access to the open bar on Wednesdays.

Finding modern flatware has been somewhat challenging for our registry. We went with Nambe's Mikko pictured above. I feel like modern flatware should be simple and have straight lines, but for some reason designers tend to add weird angles and widths. I also have a pet peeve about holding forks that are too thin. WHYYYY???
Now, if  I wanted to eat with 300 dollar everyday flatware Mono E (or A) is the way to go. Designed by Peter Raacke in 1960 and simply perfect.

Nambe available at Arango
Mono E available at Luminaire

Finally tried Yardbird last week, and after hearing quite a few mixed reviews, I can say we had some really good food. Don't miss the Fried Green Tomatoes or pimiento cheese dip.  Skip the ribs.

It was grubbery all weekend long...
Wahoo sashimi caught and prepared by my cousin, Vietnamese pomelo salad, salmon with bacon brussels sprouts, Flanigans for brunch? We also tried 2B Asian, which to be honest, I had been neglecting bc I thought the name was silly. We went because I just moved by Hy Vong, but it was closed AGAIN. I can't win with that place, they are on vacation until the 11th. You go girls, business must be swell. Sidenote, if you want to feel something cool, buy a pomelo, cut it open and squish the rind.

This post was headed in the direction of "If i was asked what my last meal would be on Death Row..." but I decided I don't want to jinx myself....so anyway, thank you Olga, for leaving a Joe's Stone Crab gift card in my mailbox. It will be put to use this weekend after my move.

This new years I resolve to check out the handful of Japanese restaurants that I keep neglecting. Since my trip to Japan this summer I became obsessed with the cuisine, but after a few months that post-trip hype wore off and never ended up going to the spots on my list. So here it is....let me know if I miss any good ones. Matsuri is my favorite but its not on the list since I've already been.

ignore the restaurant info on the bottom of my image, its unrelated lol.
this weekend frankie took me to Tropical Chinese, and once again, in Miami, the best food is found in strip malls.

Image via daily design discoveries

I asked my Japanese hairdresser Machiko which were her favorite spots to grub on some native cuisine in Miami. She says only places she goes are Matsuri and Nobu ( "I love Nobu, but I always leave hungry hehehehehe")
Anyway, Matsuri is a long time local favorite on the mainland. I would eat here for dinner every night if could.

ps they are closed on Mondays, guess the rumor is true.
