Tomorrow I leave for Greece and Turkey. Most likely I will not be posting between eating gyros and trying to figure the lens I bought for my camera...so I'll be back with a bunch of stuff about Athens, Mykonos, Santorini, Rhodes, Istanbul and all the other pit stops along the way. Wish Frankie was coming. Boo. Yogurt sauce. Yay.

I've been wanting to get my nails done for some time. Apparently Velda's Showcase Nails is the spot in South Florida.

Key West, for some reason I never go down there but when I do its always a good time. Here is how we spent our 24 hours there. You can do the tourist stuff like visit the southern most point in the US or see the Hemingway house but I've already done that (rent a bike), we just wanted to hang out, drink and eat seafood.
1. Eden House-Frankie's friends found this place and I absolutely love it, its all bungalowish, with hammocks around and a cosy pool.
2. Start your day with a lobster roll from DJ's Crabshack on Duval Street. Lobster meat stuffed in buttery brioche.
3. Drinks at Sloppy Joe's.
4. Conch fritters and oysters (more drinks, why not?) at Turtle Kraals.
5. Pick up some sandals at Kino.
6. Get a to-go cup at Captain Tony's and head to Mallory Square for tourist people watching and the sunset. Frankie with my other camera. (see the trumpet player above.)
7. Back to the Eden house for a night swim...Our room felt like a tree house overlooking the pool. From 4-5 you get free drinks in the lobby and all day the beers are $1. Can't beat that. Trivia: Goldia Hawn filmed the movie CrissCross here. Then head back out to Duval if you want to keep the party going. I'm not that fun. Everyone else I was with was.
8. Before heading out Lobster eggs benedict at Blue Heaven is worth the wait. (we waited 90 minutes for a table)
9. Visit Besame Mucho, the little shop down the street, its amazing. They carry a bunch French antique things, candles, skincare

photos by JESPER DAMSGAARD LUND AND LASSE BECH MARTINUSSEN for Vice
Vice magazine sent two Danes to Cuba. This is what they came back with.
So I'm a little overwhelmed because I found out yesterday that we are going to Key West tomorrow and I had a bunch of things I wanted to get done before leaving on my big trip on Wednesday, but I guess I'll figure it out. I hope I can I stop at Kino and pick up some sandals. I posted about them way back when. Anyway, looking forward to conch fritters and big Sloppy Joe cups of tropical beverages.
btw I leave to Greece & Turkey next week...let me know if you've been and have anything i should check out. thanksss

I first posted about Ambra Medda in 2008. She is the founder of Design Miami and just finished her last Design Miami fair in Basel before moving from Miami to New York to work on new projects. I believe she was also one of the girls behind Fendi's Craft Punk pop-up shop during last year's Basel in the Moore Building. Vogue Italia has named her one of their "Voguettes" and the video is here.
New York Times T Style Magazine also did a profile on her interests....I love that she collects hats!

I asked my Japanese hairdresser Machiko which were her favorite spots to grub on some native cuisine in Miami. She says only places she goes are Matsuri and Nobu ( "I love Nobu, but I always leave hungry hehehehehe")
Anyway, Matsuri is a long time local favorite on the mainland. I would eat here for dinner every night if could.
